The flat Gibbston River Trail runs past most of the Gibbston cellar doors, an easy way to taste your way along the valley.

Hire a bike or e-bike, ride with a guide, or ride in from Arrowtown, and let a shuttle bring you back.

Wine tours by bike: good to know

The trail
The Gibbston River Trail starts at the Kawarau Bridge bungy car park and runs just under nine kilometres east along the river. It is flat and off-road, and most cellar doors are a short detour from it.
From Arrowtown
The Arrow River Bridges Trail adds fourteen kilometres from Arrowtown, two to three hours of riding across five bridges, and reaches Gibbston around lunchtime from an early start.
Price
Listed starting prices for bike hire packages run from $35 to $219. Check what each includes: tastings, lunch and pick-up vary.
Getting back
Bike shuttles collect riders from points along the trail in the afternoon, so you do not have to ride back. Book your return when you hire.
